Palm Reading Publication Project

This publication was designed and created by me and teaches the reader the basics of palm reading.

The title of the publication got its name from an old tale in the Middle Ages. Its to be believe people once thought palmistry was a form of witch craft, hence the name “The Forbidden Arts”. The book uses a grungy and saturated colour palette and is paired with custom lettering inspired by the old English typographic style. These design choices paired with a faded and distressed look was chosen to create the feeling for the viewer, that what they are reading is ancient.

Publication Walkthrough

Because this book educates the reader on palm reading I wanted the interactions with the book to be very hands on. I included multiple sections where the pages have to be manipulated in order to read them correctly. This again pushes the idea that what the reader is seeing is forbidden…

  • In this project I had the pleasure of interviewing Fashion Designer and Artist,

    Benaiah Matheson.

This whole experience allowed me to gain insight on how to build a business and during our talk we discussed multiple topics covering business growth to in-depth analysis of his designs. This publication took themes and similar aesthetics that the artist followed himself to create a personal and true representation of the interviewee.
